Canaan Valley Resort would like to announce their new hike – Blackbird Knob – Cabin Mountain. The event has been planned so families, groups and individuals can enjoy outdoor, nature-oriented activities at West Virginia State Parks. This will be a leisurely, casual guided walk. The 5.5 mile walk has good views of open heaths and hills, vegetation is sparse for the most part and consists of laurel, azaleas, rhododendron, stands of red spruce, aspen, service berry, mixed hardwoods, grassy fields, wet areas, dry areas, rocks and sand. The trail is up and down but no long steep sections, some parts are very rocky, wet, muddy and washed out, but the views are worth the effort. The walk begins at 10am and the average walking time is approximately 4-5 hours. The registration fee of $15 ($10/children) includes transportation to and from walk. We suggest bringing your own food, snacks and water. You may find additional information on the walk at www.canaanresort.com
